Dr Jennifer Dixon DBE, HF 1990/91, Chief Executive of the Health Foundation since 2013, will talk about the long term future of the NHS.  Starting with today’s pressures and growing demand, going on to the different political drivers for change, the pressures of demography, and the likely impact of artificial intelligence, Jennifer will consider the different models that would be possible. She will  draw lessons  from other countries, including the USA, and consider the best (and perhaps worst) case scenarios that could emerge, concluding with her personal vision for the NHS.

Originally trained in medicine, Jennifer practised mainly paediatric medicine, prior to a career in policy analysis. She has a Master’s in public health and a PhD in health services research from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Jennifer has undertaken research and published widely on health care reform both in the UK and internationally. She  has served as a Board member of the Health Care Commission; the Audit Commission; the Care Quality Commission  and the UK Health Security Agency. She is a visiting professor at the London School of Economics, and has held similar positions at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Imperial College Business School.  In January 2024 Jennifer was awarded a damehood in the New Years Honours
